I agree yolda, even some 25 point questions time out. Can you imagine how many 500 point questions would time out? Especially true when a dull question comes up and there are only 25 people online.
That's why it is in the FAQ because it makes no sense to call this site Ask 500 people, it's false advertising, what's wrong with calling it ask 100 people? That's exactly what it is. Makes perfect sense to me.
the aim is to actually DO ask 500 people in the future as this guarantees a more or less 4% accurate poll of the whole world opinion, even if "just" 500 answer and not 6billion+
BUT
this is a BETA version, which means, it is still testing and growing and getting better, let's say a kind of "work in progress - live".
that means that for NOW this site is not populated enough in order to ask 500 people, 'cause each questions would take hours to run.
ok?
ANYWAY the domain keeps the same name, because it wouldn't make sense call a website ask100 only for the beta-version and than change it to ask500.
The results back me up, make all the excuses you want it would still make more sense to call it ask 100 people, then if it takes off like you hope it will, it would open the door for ask 500 or even ask 1000 people, that would be quite possible if it gets the right exposure.
The results back you up, because you did not ask it as a "community" question, but as a "question-for-all", which means that the question gets asked on thousands of other websites besides this one, with a widget! So people just read the question, WITHOUT KNOWING THE BACKGROUND. In that case I would have voted "yes", too. It's like stopping someone on the street and asking if it makes sense to ask 100 and call it 500, without explaining all I explained before.
Try to ask: "do you think it is strange, that a page called ask500 only asks 100 in it's BETA-version", that would be fair.
Anyway, instead of complaining, try to get more people over here, so we get to 500 soon ;-)
So you think I'm complaining? What do you want from people on this site, just go along with our system and don't think for your self? You are pretty defensive about my comments, they were asked with genuine curiosity, if that's the kind of site you want to have, count me out, I won't upset you with my frivolous questions any more. Good bye
We address this question in the FAQ, but essentially it's to do with making sure questions move quickly and don't take a long time to answer.
Thanks for the question and welcome to the site!
Then it should be called ask 100 people, not 500, or ask the question five times.
Merry Christmas, Aaron and Barb and Staff

Not when it is called ask500people BETA! and moreover specifies in the FAQ why it does so.

No, This is a great concept, and give them (the team) credit for their efforts. Sure they will when possible.
