Yes, but not as much as a one party system.

Really, especially if it was the Democrat party.

a one party system wouldn't be a democracy anymore, as there wouldn't be a choice for voting.

Precisely ... we are talking multi-party governments here. The question really comes down to "Are 2 parties enough? Or do you believe 3+ party system is better?"

Aside from the fact that I wonder why a Canadian is asking the question about the U.S. government, I would say more than two parties usually means that someone is elected with less than a majority vote.

How many parties does Canada have?

I ask the question because I hear a lot of opinions on American news (which I do pay attention to) that everyone loves independents. This made me raise the question does the world in general feel that opinions become limited with less than 3 parties?

Canada has a 3 Party (majority) system consisting of The New Democratic Party, The Conservative Party and The Liberal Party. All which share a large majority of the vote. The winner is like you said, determined by who claims the largest majority and seats assigned in parliament based regional elections.

This isn't to say we are only a 3 party system, as we also have The Green Party, Bloc Quebecois and Family Coalition Party. But these parties usually share a marginal portion of the vote.

I dont really undertand this question, so i just say yes...

Since the United States is a Republic and not a democracy, its a pointless question isn't it?
