Yes, for sure! I am glad that has changed since Vietnam. All the military men and women are honored in our church on special days. OUr church and sunday school sends care packages to the troops on an ongoing basis.
I agree. Served in Viet Nam in 1969 and, while no one jeered at me or called me a baby killer, neither was any appreciation expressed. I was quite prepared to deck some hippie dude making an untoward comment to me.
"Support the troops" is a back hand way to try and make people feel like they are unpatriotic if they don't support the illegal war of aggression and the occupation of Iraq. I support the troops by requesting that they be brought back home now.
When you drive around with a gas guzzling big ass SUV and a "support our troops" ribbon while a war on oil is going on that makes you look like a giant asshole.
I would have bet on your reply to this question. Your other postings reveal and consistent criticism of anything American. You are either a Democrat or a citizen of a country not friendly to the USA.
You confuse anti-establishment with anti-American. As for you claiming I might be a democrat, you are very very far away from the truth. In fact I voted for 'R'esident Bush the first time because I didn't like the democrats. In fact I really believed the crap about bush "restoring integrity to the WH". But he lied about WMDs, he lied about all sorts of other shit. In fact, see this video and learn a little:
You Bush haters keep bring up the WMD straw dog. The best military leaders of most western countries agreed that Iraq possessed WMD and in fact used one such weapon on the Kurds. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out they spirited them out of the country before we kicked them out of power. Even old Bill Clinton agreed they had WMD.
I think it takes tunnel vision to exclude the possibility that the WMD stuff was taken out of the country. That would get in the way of your Bush-hating tactics.
That was posted a very long time ago. I don't even remember which video it is I posted. However it is not all that important because you dismissed it as a lie without even having seen it. You don't know what the video was about, you didn't see it and yet you have already decided it was not true. People like you would not be able to understand information unless it already confirm your myths and your beliefs. But anyway, here's a video you can watch:
"It’s a little known fact that, after invading Iraq in 2003, the U.S. found massive amounts of uranium yellowcake, the stuff that can be refined into nuclear weapons or nuclear fuel, at a facility in Tuwaitha outside of Baghdad."
No shit!! And all along Bush has been getting approval ratings lower then Nixon and the so-called "war on terror" in Iraq has been losing popularity with the American people yet Bush never saw fit to release this information that some 'nukelar' materials were found?
Listen bro, there were no WMDs and even Bush has admitted that much. Only he didn't admit it was a deliberate lie, he simply pretended that it was a 'mistake' or 'bad intel'....... of course I didn't expect him to come right out and admit that he lied to the American people and to the world, but at least he had to admit that there were no WMDs. Have a look here to see Bush say there were no WMDs in Iraq:
you know what is funny. If it wasn't for our troops, we wouldn't have the right to do these polls and the freedom to comment as we should. Remember it has always been the serviceman or woman that has secured all our rights with thier blood and sweat.
I am not being disingenuous. It is certainly not perfectly logical to reject something and in the same breath 'support' the agents that bring it into being.
The agents that brought the "War on Terror" into being are NOT the brave warriors who are stuck fighting phantoms amidst a civil war. Chickenhawks Bush and Cheney are the causative agents and they don't deserve our support. They are criminals who deserve impeachment.
Well, obviously, I disagree. Really, I just feel bad for the troops. They have to go where they are told. I support them because I support policies to remove them from a horrible situation.
I am in favor of our war efforts in Iraq. What is happening there is slow but necessary. But from a parent who has a son serving his second tour of duty I tell you that the US media is as much the enemy any body with an IED.
Yes. I don't know if you have had a chance to hear the mid east perspective on things or not---But Benjamin Netanyahu---has a perspective that almost no one comments on. And its in regards to the Muslims attitude on America and why there is terrorism. If you get a chance google him...our senate should hear him!
You spit on me when I returned from war. You ignored the pain you caused by lack of your support. I should hate you but if given the chance I would fight to the death to protect your right to do the things you do. I was and will always be an American soldier.
I full-heartedly support the troops by trying to keep them out of harm's way unless it is absolutely necessary. But this Iraq occupation of four years is a tragic waste of their blood and bravery. Is it more patriotic to put our soldiers anywhere Haliburton would like them no matter how many die, no matter how unjust or illegal the aggression we make is?
THESE PEOPLE ARE OUR PEOPLE, AND WE MUST SUPPORT THEM WHERE EVER THEY ARE HERE THERE OR OVERSEAS. YOU CANT FOR GET WHAT THEY PROVIDE. OUR INDEPENDENCE AS A COUNTRY AND A LAND. WITH OUT THEM, WE ARE NOTHING
Yes. Absolutely, my son was in Iraq twice.
Please pass on my appreciation for your son's service to this country.

So you beat people up for disagreeing with you?
And you wonder why there was no "appreciation expressed"?
I posted the question, War is War I have seen what you have and they will never understand. take bother

Stone him!
Remember folks, when you run out of arguments, there's always ad hominem attacks to fall back on.
This is a sad state of affairs that you think anti-war and anti-American are the same thing ...... it's very sad.
You confuse anti-establishment with anti-American. As for you claiming I might be a democrat, you are very very far away from the truth. BTW, the woman who made the video is a friend of mine, an American and formerly a republican.
You Bush haters keep bring up the WMD straw dog. The best military leaders of most western countries agreed that Iraq possessed WMD and in fact used one such weapon on the Kurds. "You Bush haters keep bring up the WMD straw dog."
Actually, it's 'straw man', not dog.
"It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out they spirited them out of the country before we kicked them out of power."
No, it doesn't take a rocket scientist. It takes a strong, strong imagination and a certain sense of the whimsical.
I kinda thought "straw dog" was more appropriate.
I think it takes tunnel vision to exclude the possibility that the WMD stuff was taken out of the country. That would get in the way of your Bush-hating tactics.

For sure you have already made the decision that the video is a not true without having seen it so watching it will be a waste of bandwidth for you.

I agree totally, Pepelapiu.
Yes, my Son was also there twice.
Please pass on my appreciation for your son's service to this country.
Yes, I hope that they can leave this country alive and as fast as possible.

I support the troops, but not the war.
That's like supporting the rain drops but not the rain, or the rocks but not the avalanche.
Don't be disingenuous, it's not like that at all. It is perfectly logical to support the troops, but not the war.
