Oh yes it does. You must think the American public is real stupid. You are asked to publicly put pen to paper and request Union representation. If the majority sign, you have a Union. Then there is a Union election to decide who your officers are and if you want THIS Union to represent you? Guess who votes. The people that signed the petition. Guess who has no power and no say. The people who didn't sign. Where is the secret ballot? You must sign publicly or lose everything.
It's just political payback for Unions. They delivered millions of votes. Once you belong to Unions in this country, you lose your freedom to act independently. Any Union is based on the idea that people wield more power to get what they want if they act together and is only effective if all workers act together. They can not afford any workers acting on their own and will crush anyone who dares go against them in the workplace.
I am of the opinion that the bill WOULD strip employees the right of a secret ballot. If that is true then I am against it....if thats NOT true, I wish someone would post up a link to the bill so I could read it myself....

"If enacted, EFCA would require the NLRB to certify the union as the bargaining representative without directing an election if a majority of the bargaining unit employees signed cards;[1] however, employees may still request a secret ballot election if 30% of employees petition for one.[3] The EFCA would "allow the employees—rather than the employer—to decide whether to hold a secret-ballot election."
You are talking around this. Labor unions and employee rights are not synonymous. I worked several years as a construction supervisor. I've worked in Union and non-union shops. The union employees had more specific rights, but much less opportunity. I have a couple of friends that were were great employees 15 years ago, but don't have the productivity of some of the younger guys now. They don't get as many assignments as they could and are working part time. They could be working as supervisors full time had they not been Union.
Its funny how people think that the Union will give you more rights as a worker. They actually do just the opposite. The Unions will come in and establish their own rules that spell out very specifically what each employee is ALLOWED to do.
But other than that, what does this bill offer that will be of significant aid to employees. Maybe I'm missing something...whats new and important here? Is not having a secret ballot going to make unions easier?
Being a union member, I can agree with some of what you say. I am not "talking around" the idea that the GOP traditionally does not support either. I am finding the sudden concern amusing.

It's been made clear on MSNBC and the New York Times, both Left Wing news organizations. Hardly a GOP misinformation campaign.

Think about it...when has the GOP ever been in favor of employee's rights or unions?

Since when are the right-wingers on this site so concerned with labor unions and employee rights?
