yeah and it sucks too, ever since 2007 all but the old, really good doctors are leaving for UK, France, and other countries that pay better. Don't blame them, I would too, but we also need good medics here.
I guess that the good side is that anyone whom has a job also has health insurance, and I think that makes our system overall better than that in the US

yeah... but the actual medical attention is off the dollar menu where you live..... the U.S. has best medical attention in the world [the actual attention and technology], so i don't mind actually paying..... don't want shit that seems like it came off the value menu at McDonald's.

cooljuno411, you lose all credibility when you spout garbage based on opinions and wishful thinking.
To make it colourful, what you're essentially saying is that you're happy to live in a country where the Batmobile is available to Bruce Wayne and wealthy friends, even though 40+ million people can't even afford a car and the rest can barely pay for their second-hand Honda Accord. People with universal healthcare are somehow worse off because they all have access to BMWs but not Batmobiles?!
Ignoring the fact that what you're saying about the best medical attention being confined to the US is wrong, you seem oblivious to the reality that access is more important than mere existence of potential care.
Medical bills are the #1 cause of personal bankruptcy in the USA - that's not even possible in countries with universal coverage.

well you can get great service here too if you have the cash to pay for it, and I dare say that we (still) have a lot of very good doctors in the public system too, but the private clinics do have state of the art tech. Government just can't afford to buy high tech equipment in any but the biggest medical centres
over a quarter (26% right now @ 469 votes) of the US doesn't know what kind of health care they have. 12% said yes, 14% admit they don't know. That's pretty embarrassing.
Not universal healthcare but "publicly funded medical system".
