I live in a historic neighborhood, with a great deal of cultural diversity. Always fascinating, and everyone watches out for one another. We have several Sikh families, Hispanic families, gay & lesbian couples, a French couple next door, several elderly couples, and a pot smoker across the street.
We live outside town in quite a remote place. There are only 7 houses here. I know them but don't socialize with them (some of them aren't really smart or able to accept other peoples opinions)...
That's the way neighbors should be. Know the faces of everyone who lives in the house in case someone starts carrying all your stuff out the door when you're not home, but never arrive unannounced. (lol)

Only the guys next door and a couple living at ground floor.
I know them enough. Enough to stop and chat when out at the yard or picking up the mail, but not enough for them to drop by unexpectedly.
