Yes, not kowtow to the petroleum industry. Read "House of Saud." See "Syriana." See "Who Killed the Electric Car." See IRAQ for what it is.

I think they could, but it would be a mistake. If reducing oil consumption is important (perhaps for the environment, and/or to reduce dependance on foreign governments) gas prices need to go up so people will use alternate transportation, buy more fuel-efficient vehicles, etc.

Economic incentives are the best way to change behaviour.

Trouble is that the people who drive the older "gas guzzling" cars and can't afford the gas price increases are not financially able to buy a new fuel efficient car.

What Aaron said.

Yes ! But they won't. Bush has his hands in the oil company's. so basically we are screwed.

The gas prices are a joke, on us...

Yes They also need to promote alternative energy but Bush won't do much there's no enough money in it for him

Yes! Get the heck out of the way of oil exploration and drilling in the U.S. for our own oil!

These high fuel price's are are due to the environemental wacko's. Stopping drilling, no new refiner's,etc.

Could? Sure. But should the government do something is an entirely different story.

they should not.
