It's probably not the religion as such but the mental cases who interpret the religious law to suit their own agendas. Just as guns don't kill people, nor do bibles.
At first I though 'Yes," then I thought 'But a lot of people are Buddhist. I bet if you added them to all the BaHa'i and other pacifist religions, they might even rival Christians in number--which would make the peaceful types a major influence, for sure." Then I looked it up.
The two largest religions, comprising about 51% of the world population are Christianity and Islam, so no hope there. Both are pretty damned militant.
Next, at about 16%, are non-religious/atheistsecular humanist/none/no preference. My experience of atheists of all stripes is that they are comittedly pacifist, although I am sure that many are not, so some hope here.
Then Hindu-14%. All the others are 6% each or less, and include everything from Buddhism to traditional African to neo-paganism to Rastafarian to Scientology.
So, I would have to say, if you get rid of Christianity and Islam, things look pretty good. The only other one that is currently embroiled in a religious war is the Sikh, and that is all part of the Pakistani thing.
I wish there was an IDK because while I suspect "yes" is a good answer I'm not really sure. I would quickly pick IDK if it was a choice.

Any positive aspect there is about religion. ANY positive aspect in reality at all that religion has to offer, can be done better by Secular means.
