Do you ever have the feeling that there is a world out there that is portrayed on TV that you have never seen or experienced?

I have this creepy feeling that children watching TV think that this is how people really live; and that their lives are somehow different than "real" lives and suffer by comparison. For example, even though they do not experience crime as it is shown on TV shows, that someone out there is and it's only a matter of time until they do. Or marriage, having expectations based on The Bachelor, where you can meet someone and marry them and live happily ever after in only a few weeks. And that loving a woman is based on how big their boobs are, how blond their hair, how skinny they are, how young they are. As I said, creepy.
Are you really in Germany? Due the the fact of your good command of the English language, I think you are probably a Soldier or the wife of one or what ever. If one lets the TV be the baby sitter, what do you think? Are you fat?
I would change my location if I knew how. I emailed ask500 but they never got back to me. I remember that you used to be able to because I changed it to Germany when I went over last November.
I'm a little disappointed that you chose to completely ignore the question and decided to demonstrate the point I'm making. Exhibit one.
We're sorry to hear you didn't receive a reply to a support request. My records show we corresponded back in August 2008, but not regarding changing your location. You should always be able to reach us at support@ask500people.com, or via the 'contact' link on the bottom of every page on the site.
You can change your location in your profile via the 'Edit' link on your own profile page. Note, however, that you only have three chances to get it right, so no random globehopping! After that, you're stuck, apart from contacting us directly with one final change request.
No it's not...Married with Children is kind of funny in an evil way. Reality shows deliberately pick the most self absorbed jerks you can possibly imagine to whine their way through an entire hour of programming. I'd choose married with Children in a heartbeat!
Well, for six weeks all I had to watch were TV shows in Polish (except Bloomberg, and the Travel channel). In Germany, my son had AFN and BBC. The BBC, which we don't get here, is a favorite. You forget what real news reporting is until you watch BBC. Their in-depth reporting on so many issues was a joy to watch. And the people reporting the news were just regular people, not handsome, beautiful rare specimens, dressed by someone else and acting out the news with interjections of clever banter. Somehow the crooked tie, or too-big suit enhanced their credibility.
You mean the world where a barrista in a coffee shop can afford a $3000 a month Manhattan apartment, designer clothes, Broadway entertainment, and such?
I have never seen poor people except some of Mexico. I have never really seen rich people either. Those two worlds are foreign to me, and I am glad. I am typical middle class and plan on staying here.
Don't believe anything you just said. I am sure you don't believe it either. Lets say for the sake of argument that what you did say happened, Obama is only in office for 8 years. Nothing any president does is forever.
Don't you see how we have been caught up in this net spun of all these ideas about how our president is going to make us all poor and that the rich people are out to get us, and that it's really a class society where in the end you will lose? Get away from the news for a while and try to look around you and at your life. Are those ideas real? Were you middle-class or rich and are now poor? Anyone you know? What about your friends? Is this just an artifical web of strange ideas that we have been blind enough to believe? What are our lives really? Are they what you are actually living right now or what others tell you you are living or will live? It's orwellian.
I don't have any particular political affiliation but will attach myself to certain issues. I don't like "jargon" to describe people or issues, like "liberal"; I think it's lazy and replaces critical thinking. I read a lot and I put polls up on issues when I want to compare my opinions against those of others. Often I'm surprised and that's what I like about Ask500. I'm back in Maine (thank god) now after having spent 8 months in Germany and 6 weeks in Krakow, Poland.
I'm getting ready to go back to Warsaw to get some dental work done. I need a kick in the pants to make me appreciate my homeland again. I'm so tired of the political divisions that seem to be insurmountable. No amount of pleading seems to make either party consider the welfare of the people they represent first.
In July I'm going to Jelenia Gora, Poland to finish the dental work. One of my sons is coming with me. I despair for my country. We elect a president and then try to tear him down and expect miracles from someone who in the end is only a human being. And yet we don't try to support and help him. It's sad. If you want to see what a failed country is like travel; maybe you will appreciate what you have and try to contribute instead of trying to destroy it just because it doesn't always reflect your personal desires and wants.

I guess you were too lazy to read her "about" section to determine where she is. Are you fat?

You have to forgive Wingnutt, he is on a tear.
I have the same creepy feeling, which is why I prefer programming from other countries.
I'm not a big TV watcher. When I watch it's almost always news or "reality" shows. I almost never watch any sitcoms or series on a faithful basis.
You do know that "Married with Children" is a step up from reality shows, right?
Sorry, just saying.

MWC is just sick.

Lov is not depending on how big their boobs are? :OOOooo
Then love must be depending on how large male's crown jewels are? Hahaha.

Yep. I often wonder about those ritzy East Side apartments or SoHo lofts. How come nobody I know lives in any of them?
WTF? O__o
What drugs do you consume?
Which ones do you?
