I never eat fast food, I have standards after all. They may not be high, in fact they are very very low, but I got 'em!

I never eat fast food. I never ate fast food. Ergo, I eat it just as much as I used to.

When I worked downtown I ate fast food almost every day. Now that I work at home I eat fast food a couple of times a month. I eat it much less than I used to eat it.

Has anyone read 'fast food nation' by eric schlosser?

Its an expose of the effetcs of the indusrty in all aspects. Its very good.

Agree. Have you seen "Supersize Me" by Morgan Spurlock? It documents the effects on him of eating McDonald's-only diet for 30 days. What and eye-opener! He also has a TV show called "30 Days" which puts people into situations with people they think they hate (fundamentalist living with Muslim family, him being a coal miner) for 30 days. It's good, and many episodes are available online.

I havent seen i no, but i have heard about it. Whats interesting about the book, is it focuses alot more on the industrial impacts, alot on disease (in the meet) and on marketing strategies and GLOBALISATION (which is my big hate).

Personally I dont think id ever set foot in a fast food outset again, and i certainly dont hink theyd get my money.

Whats your stance??

well, it's not just the fast food industry here that has contamination and disease problems, but that is a function of the capture of the FDA by the businesses it is supposed to regulate.

I don't eat fast food because it is terminally (no pun!) unhealthy, and because it tastes like crap. There is no excuse for selling food that is no better than a slow poison--and to market it to CHILDREN!! That's about as evil as it gets, even for Madison Avenue.

The book says alot about thier marketing efforts to children. Apperently it is a scientific fact that a diet high in fat and sugar in children under 8 years old leads to a long term addiction in eating habbits - they market to children becuase they are the easiest to persuade, and the industry will yeild a customer for the next 40-50 years.

However, interstingly, Ray Krok (McD's chairman) and Walt Disney are very very comparable. They both market to children in very very similar ways. Mr Disney is nto so innocent it seems (however his product doesnt slowly poison its consumers, as you rightly pointed out!)

All the mega-corps use and sponsor research into child psychology and brain function and what all to be able to market most effectively to children as young as 18 months.

I don't watch TV, either.

Irony; ever since i worked in a RESTAURANT, neither do i!

haha

After I got my first job at 16 my TV viewing dropped off to nearly zero. I went to school during the day, I worked afternoons and evenings. No time for it.

Same here. I get something like 2 hours to myself inbetween college and work. So i arent wasting that time on TV!

lol

Hulu blocks IP addresses that are not from the US, plenty of proxies available for those who need to work around those silly restrictions ;)

Rarely Eat fast food unless i'm on a road trip...
