I don't believe in fate or destiny. While we may not "choose" are future we create our future through are actions.
There are however points of no return, where you no longer have the time or the ability to change what is already in motion and now inevitable.
A bit of both. Things like floods are completely random. But our response to them is pre-determend by our genes and the influence of others (and their genes) upon us.
Neither. I believe in biology, habit, and social constructs.
FOr example, the propaganda that whips up war fever acts on parts of the brain that have existed for millions of years and in all our close relatives. That is a social construct (county/politician/government) action on a biological attribute (brain structure/language acquisition). We can learn to program these for ourselves to a greater or lesser extend, instead of allowing others and/or circumstances to do so.
