If long terms in jail was REALLY more painful than death, Im sure there would be more suicides from people who receive life in prison.
Fact is that once you get used to it, some people would prefer to say inside than be released.
Just my personal opinion, since I do believe in second chances, I am against the death penalty for people who have just killed once. Im for the death penalty for people who have used up their one chance and killed again.
I'm conflicted about the death penalty, since I think it is obvious that in a substantial number of cases suspects are railroaded through court without enough evidence or with inadequate defense. However, I would have no issue with voluntary submission to the death penalty as an alternative for any prisoner sentenced to more than a small number years, for any crime.
Frankly, I think it (the humane suicide option) should be an option available to any adult, anytime, as a human right. I suspect I'm ahead of the curve on that idea, however.
according to me, the justice is not allowed to kill anyone, even if a court convicted him. Death, is not a democratic sentence.Justice MUST be humanist offering the chance to the criminal to be forgiven, or to redeem. Moreover, whatever the crime the delinquent will always be a human being, and must be treaten decently.
Look, I'm all for removing rapists, pedophiles, abusers, and serial killers from the mortal coil. If someone, especially their victims or would-be victims, wants to do the honors, I'm certainly not going to point any fingers. The fact of the matter is, I know how the law works. More importantly, I know how it doesn't work. There's absolutely no way that only the guilty would be put to death, or that the ones who deserve it wouldn't be let off by a technicality, or that a technicality could land someone on death row when they should have gotten a manslaughter conviction.
Killing people who really really deserve it isn't something I object to. Asking an ineffective, bigoted, highly political, corrupt "justice" system that likes to play fast and loose with the law to do it is what bothers me.
