Sounds like a smart friend. Eventually people will spend the time to educate themselves about all the religions, not just one. If you look at the basic foundations of all the major religions, they all say the same things. Be nice to each other, don't kill each other, and things like that. Only the names and places change...the message does not. Think about it...
And yet, not matter the message, people everywhere manage to use their religion as an excuse for murdering others. At least atheists don't kill in the name of not worshiping any god.
While there are similarities, the differences are more like who they believe God to be and what He is like. Christians believe that God is one God in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Muslims do not. Christians believe that God's Son became a human (Jesus Christ) and that Jesus made Himself a sacrifice for sinners, thereby providing a means of salvation. Without the Trinity, there is no salvation and therefore, condemnation to Hell.
Allah is not triune, and doesn't have a son. Therefore the 2 religions are worshipping different Gods, or at least different ideas of who God is.
Its sad how many people will just say that "Its a different relgion! There is no way they are the same!" All the desert religions worship the same god. They just call god differnt things and worship differnt ways.

well they are both developments of the Old Testament or Jewish God (he of the smiting and drowning folks fame), so how they can say no amazes me.
