Don't you think that things like Wal-Mart and Vons, being able to sell product at very cheap prices, resulted from competitive pressure for ever-increasing profits?

WalMart can sell at such low prices because it outsourced production. Like any multi-national, it strives to ELIMINATE competition, because monopoly is power.
I wonder what it would be like to live in a culture that values cooperation over competition. I suspect that I wouldn't be able to truly appreciate it because I would (subconsciously, at least) feel that my individuality was was imposed upon.
