From the limited information available his trial was only 30 minutes; hardly time to respond and offer a defense. Plus, his daughter, I think it was, said he was mentally unstable.

I am opposed to capital punishment for any reason.

1: The death penalty is an inhumane punishment.

2: There is no excuse for a hasty trial

3: There is no excuse for not taking his mental status serious

1+2+3 = China should be ashamed of itself

Yup. Any one of those is sufficient reason, in my book.

No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.

Thank you for the comments and votes, guys.

For me I cannot answer this question myself. That's why I asked it here, and have no answer again, because by now of 53 votes I got circa 50/50 answers.

Human life cannot be reset, it's clear. Those authorities who killed him cannot deliver him back.

But. He actually did the crime. I've seen how drugs change people, and I agree that drugs is very-very-very dangerous thing for people. It is deadly thing actually. That's why I understand the authorities as they think about safety for the nation.

Also remember opium wars. They were far ago in our time scale, but for China with their old history the wars is very recent event. The wars were driven by Britain, and now Briton again came there with the drugs. I understand China's reasons, and maybe ... maybe ... I don't regret of their decision.

P.S.: I am sure that those who did 9/11 were under drugs because otherwise nobody is able to do such horror.

I am sure that they were mentally ill because normal man cannot do this. But I am not ready to excuse them for what they did.

Shaik's defenders say he was mentaly ill. But they would and have not produced any evidence such as med reports.

China would have executed a citizen for the same offence. It is a mistake to think they would make exceptions for foreigners.

Execution is not a Deterrent for any Crime in any Country.

Some points for consideration.

1) if a crime is committed in a certain country - then shouldn't the rules of that country be followed for punishment? Why should foreigners get a free lunch?

2) If someone truly is that mentally unstable - would they seem so remarkably capable and able to travel such a distance and become involved in the deal. The 'depression' card seems like a poor excuse for bad behaviour.

3) Drugs ruin lives - many people could potentially have died or had their lives wrecked by those drugs, why is one life more important than others?
