Why?

http://westernstandard.blogs.com/shotgun/2008/12/ws-poll-western.html

The Bloc-NDP-Liberal coalition government has strongly upset at least some Western Canadians. Proposals for cabinet positions do not include any Albertans. In 2005, fully 35.6 per cent of Westerners agreed with the idea of thinking about separating from Canada. We're curious if that number is higher or lower now.

Well... Maybe you haven't been following the news in Canada. Here's a short summary: Conservatives won (with a Westerner, Stephen Harper, as minority PM). Now three parties are planning to oust Harper via a coalition government with the separatist Bloc Quebecois, the socialist NDP, and the Liberals, without an election. Some are calling it a coup. There is hardly anyone from out West who would get into Cabinet (Ralph Goodale is the sole exception right now).

well your right i haven't been following Canadian politics. And what you just told me sounds like a raw deal.Maybe the threat of some drastic measures like succeeding will help change things.maybe it isn't a good idea to have more than a 2 party government?

The conservatives have the largest number of seats of the four major parties (they got 35% of the popular vote), they do not have the majority of the seats though. The reason the other three got upset was because the conservatives did not play nice and are bringing the country from a healthy surplus into a deficit while failing to deal with the economic problems. Some measure was put into a bill that all three opposition parties were very upset about, they got together and good luck trying to split them up now.

In any case There will be a new election called in the spring and whoever is blamed for the problems will get into trouble, so expect a lot of blame going back and forth....

Those backwards conservatives! they should have no voice in the government what so ever! hey that multi party system really sounds like its working only 1/3 of the country wants to separate.

If the Quebecois can't make a success of seceding, then the Western provinces don't have a chance.

Quebec has a completely different language and culture than the rest of Canada. If they haven't seceded, I don't see how other provinces can.
