This sounds like a pro-life version of "Are you FOR letting people make their own decisions, or AGAINST letting people make their own decisions?"

wow, very good point! and it does frustrate me how people dont seem to want to allow people to do so - the law should be that people can abort if they want to, and if they are against it, then dont do it yourself!

It's not murder. Life does not begin with conception, but if those cells continue to divide and multiply it will BECOME a human being. I find it horrifying that so many people are determined to make sure that every single sperm and egg that unites has equal protection under the law as a person who already walks the earth. Do you realize that declaring "life begins at conception" will outlaw every single method of birth control other than condoms, diaphragms and sterilization? I suppose you'll want an investigation into every miscarriage to make sure it wasn't an abortion? "Call the police! She probably used a coat hanger to MURDER those poor, defenseless cells!"

oh please don't involve god in this argument. god is a useless concept. the question is whether you think abortion is wrong not whether you are told by people that your version of the invisible sky wizard agrees or disagrees with you.

Yes, it would have been completely fine if my mother had chosen to abort me. Just like I have no problems with my mother euthanising me if I become a vegetable in hospital.

Then, you are a very unusual person. Most people want to live.

why, what is it you dont like??

Ok. The thing is, sometimes a baby being aborted is the lesser of two evils - like if the situation it is being born into would give i a VERY poor quality of life, (parents with no love) or if it is the product of rape, or a family that couldnt afford to keep it.

It is reasonable to say that 'it shoudlnt have been concieved if these were the circumstances'. well, if it has, then it has, and thats the problem we have to deal with, not preventing a problem that has already happened.

While I agree with you, I think this is a weak argument in favor of abortion. This implies that there is a spectrum of people who "deserve" to get an abortion more than others...and I don't think this should be the case. It's a matter of choice, not circumstance. It's not just the extremes of the "spectrum" that should be condoned in this matter (at least, not in the eyes of the law--or in my eyes). Anyone who walks in...it's not up to us to decide if they're worthy or not.

Oh god. Please. No. Asking this question on the internet is like covering yourself in meat and rolling around in a fire ant nest.

As an aside, the term 'pro-life' is almost insulting in the way it implies everyone else must be 'anti-life' or 'pro-death'. As soon as such stupid binary propaganda is used any chance of actual debate disappears.

It was actually the "pro-choice" people who started down this road. They didn't want to refer to themselves as "pro-abortion" so they became "pro-choice". Then the anti-abortion" crowd sounded like they were "anti-choice" so they became "pro-life". Both sides in this argument are very good and I don't really think anyone wants an abortion to happen if it can be prevented. Unfortunately both sides have gone to extremes. There should be limits but the "pro-choice" people don't want to hear that. Third trimester and partial birth abortions should not be allowed in most instances. While the pro-lifers are against even the morning after pill. I propose the "pro-choice" crowd give up the partial birth abortions and the "pro-lifers" should let the morning after pill be provided over the counter.

Yake? Are you mellowing or am I walking down the Red Road? Something's happened, because I absolutely agree with everything you just said. WHAT HAS HAPPENED??? AAAAAAAHHHHH

Wait - I found a disagreement! (lol) The pro-choice people are (I believe) not really "pro-abortion" because that implies they are FOR abortion. The majority really are pro-CHOICE because (at least for me, anyway), I would rather have a world where abortion wasn't necessary - But - if an unwanted pregnancy does occur, I believe a government (nor nosy neighbors who want a voice in how you live your life) should have absolutely NO right to get involved in the decisions a woman makes about her life, her future and her pregnancy.

The heck with all this post conception population control. What about mandatory, international birth control and licensing of child birth. Then we can assure that every child is wanted and can be cared for.

Call it what you want but abortion is murder. Nobody should have a "choice" to murder. JMO and my choice. You have your choice.

What amazes me is how the majority of Pro-Lifers call it murder. Then the same folks call for the death penalty when someone kills someone else. These same pro lifers are also ususaly the right wing religious republicans that defend to the death, the constitution of the US, which is all about a person's personal freedom. These people crack me up sometimes.

"sicko perverted Canadian"? This is not a label for someone who disagrees with you? Perhaps you should try thinking before you run off at the mouth. If you're capable.

He/She is not...
