I hosted a German foreign exchange student a few years back, and this was a pet peeve of hers. The kids in our local high school would say moronic things like she was from a third world country (seriously, folks) and she was a Nazi (even though Nazis, and similar hate groups are banned in Germany). I just wondered if this is an issue to any other "third worlders" (sorry...I could resist)
According to the news, the United States is getting to be worse. There's a recent report about parasites normally found in Third World countries spreading in the US population:
No, not at all. Nor am I offended if I'm called a "honky" or a "cracker" or a dago wop." I'm bigger than that. It's the name callers that have the problem. They just want to be more like me.

LOL, yes! Since I think my country is the epitome of civilization .... OK, j/k there, but only just. Though I have never had contact with anyone ignorant enough to call New Zealand "third world". Though one of my US friends did think it was in Europe ...
I was gobsmacked I must admit! And she's a smart, college-educated lady. But then a majority of these friends (mostly with a college degree) thought that Henry Ford invented the motorcar, so it does make you wonder a little about what they do actually learn (as opposed to getting taught).
