I love my country's history. Wish I had this much interest when I was in school. My interest only goes back to our founding fathers. I don't care much about what happened before that. Even though our founding fathers came from the UK, I still think of us being isolationists. Peterf really doesnt know what he is talking about.
Sure, For instance, if you don't US history, you don't realize that the first time the Constitution was overthrown to 'protect' us was with the Alien and Sedition Acts back in---wait---this is really GOOD!---1798! Only a single generation after the founding of the country.
You don't know that similar attempts have been made with monotonous regularity, and that The Patriot (NewSpeak!) Act is only the current incarnation of making repression the law of the land.
Mine and many others. No country's history stands in isolation. (As the isolationists in the USA eventually discovered).

Don't you find it odd that an isolationist has military presence in most of the other countries in the world?

No
Perhaps you don't know what 'isolationism' means?
A national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries.
There are not too many undeniable 'lessons from history' Lin. One is that all states are affected by what happens, or has happened, in others.
