Yes we are still racist but not for that reason.

White bath towels cost more than blue bath towels...is that racist?

Please explain why black barbies would be half the price of white barbies.

And you call yourself a capitalist? When the demand is lower the price is HIGHER.

The law of supply and demand says, if you are selling all of a thing (i.e., the demand is HIGH), RAISE your prices until demand drops.

Your comment does'nt make sense. Low supply and high demand equals higher prices.

Yup, it is counter-intuitive. You charge more when demand is high because that is what "All the traffic will bear" is about. There have been practically ZERO major new technological advances in medicine since the space program was gutted; yet the cost of medical care goes up and up. Why? ALL THE TRAFFIC WILL BEAR! the demand is high, and since few people will choose death over paying everything the have, that is the logical end. If the demand caused prices to drop, everyone in the country would have health care.

I think you misunderstood what I am asking, I am not attacking business, I am questioning the values of our society.

I could almost understand your claim if the black barbies were twice as expensive as white barbies...therefore steering parents into buying the cheaper white barbies...but that was not the case. If you know anything about supply and demand you would have a good idea why it might be on sale.

I think you misunderstood what I am asking, I am not attacking business, I am questioning the values of our society.

when I say "black", I imagine "black people".

when I say "blue", I imagine sky.

that's the difference...

white towels cost more cause everyone want white towel, so to get more money you increase the price (corporatocracy)

I realy would like to see blue barbie XD

Me too!

Years ago, in the 1950s, author Shirley Jackson was enrolling her kids in the local school. The enrollment form had a space marked "Color," obviously meaning race; Jackson entered this: "I prefer turquoise."

Love her.

I usually leave that one empty and for "sex" I would sometimes fill in "yes please" Here I filled in my gender, it can be useful for interpreting the poll results.

And more people buy white barbies...which is why they cost more. That is not racism, its economics.

Not to mention the fact that cheaper black barbies makes it easier for children who want a black barbie to buy one. What is racist about that concept?

i don't think that it's democracy if you say "black people are poor" so it's good that they have cheaper toys.

...or better start making blue Barbies XD

I don't think its democracy if you say "all toys must cost the same"

If the democracy decides that "all toys must cost the same" then it is still a democracy. And it would still be a stupid decision :P

all toys of the same type and same production cost...

anyway what do you think democracy must meen? Do you meen "same rights for everyone" or maybe you meen "freedom to do everything you want"?

Its obvious you do not understand economics. That is not surprising considering you apparently come from a pro communist country. However, in the rest of the free world, if you have two products on the shelf of a supermarket, lets call them green beans and English peas. If your have a large stock of both and one is not selling very well you have every right to discount the price of the one not selling so that you can effectively lower the the amount of stock you have on hand. It would be very authoritarian and undemocratic to force the store to sell the two items at the same cost.

I would buy the blue towel, because it serves my purposes just as well as the white towel. My partner is different though, she likes things to "match"

Who sold more?

Over 50 years ago, my brother drew rude things on my doll in biro. It wouldn't clean off so my Mum dyed it black.

Gee !! I sure attracted a lot of attention with my black doll.

The look on people's faces was priceless and It usually rendered them speechless, I took that doll everywhere.

I still have the doll.

can you give us photo? ^^

Black Barbie? OMG! So racistic...

If we follow the legend: Barbie was a young girl that died and his father has made this toy. Why the F should it be black???

If you make black and white barbies that meens that you divide toys: toys for white people and toys for black people. How can you say that you are'nt racists?

My opinion is to not be racist you should make white OR black toys not both at once!

The practice of making black dolls came about because it was pointed out that black people had only white dolls with which to play, and that it probably damaged their self-image to have only white presented as worthy of copying in a doll.

Makes sense to me.

..and now you have divided society...

"too much or nothing" is always bad no matter in what sphere you use that idea. You always should keep somewhere in the middle.

It should be much better if americans would start making doll of black heroes but not changing coloro of skin for dolls of white pople heroes.

That could make poeple interested in both cultures and stop many racistic conflicts...

I don't know. The relative prices of black v white Barbies is not helpful in evaluating racism. Tell me if anybody was denied a doll based on their race; that would be more useful.
