It is infuriating that a few hundred people who own the majority of wealth in the country have a bigger voice than the hundreds of millions who have to suffer under their self-interest. Getting rid of corporate donations, making any lobbying other than direct citizen lobbying illegal, and limiting individual contributions to a thousand dollars would go a long way towards having a representative democracy that represents the people instead of the chosen few.
Lobbying is a vital part of our democracy. In America, everybody has the right to petition the governmnet for his/her demands and priorities, and that direct connection from the people to the government is what makes our nation great.
According to Conservative Boston radio talk show host, Michael Graham, I'm what's known as a EuroWeenie.
That's what he calls anyone from Europe who doesn't touch the forelock in deference to the almighty U S of A.
So, I guess I'm a EuroWeenie then, and proud of it.
