You damn right we should worry. Their equipment is very low quality and their maintenance is crappy. If that thing breaks down somewhere between Cuba and the US the possibilities of either oil or atomic pollution would make that place as bad as the north sea.

What class of vessel is it?

I read the article from the New York Times and it didn't say.

It is a Batch 2 Udaloy class Destroyer. Basically a large conventionally powered, anti-submarine ship with a decent anti-air battery too.

Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, the USN has scrapped better ships than that :)

Thanks. Good research.

Anytime. Military affairs, history and wargaming ar among my several geeky hobbies :)

I'll keep that in mind.

Why are you commenting as though it was someone else who asked the question? Are you becoming schizophrenic now? Did you just watch a rerun of 13 days? Are you becoming paranoid now? ;o)

What do you do when you don't have enough room and more to say. But then again I've looked at your questions and.....no substance.

I'll bet you are blond.

Only if it is delivering IRBM or ICBMd.

What if they send it under the pretext of delivering humanitarian aid with a warship?

lol

The last time Russia & Cuba had a slumber party, we wound up with the missile crisis. Let's hope Raúl continues to be a little more laid back than his big bro.

Please, we have REAL things to worry about. A few Russians on tour isn't worth the bother. I'm sure the Cubans will remember how to deal with drunken Russian sailors.
