Having worked for and retired from the federal government I have to say this is one of the best ideas to come down the pike in a long time. Seeing the federal government in action up close and personal makes me conclude that the less control it has over our lives the better.

A heads up to DHS! Just in case you are reading this. What's up?

OK. The purported reason for doing this is to determine if there is any group or groups "plotting" against the government. What I want to know is what would they do if they decided I was trying to rally people to overthrow our government. Take me into custody secretly; charge me openly (with what?); try to determine who else is involved and secret them away? If there is a point to this they must have some consequence in mind.

An aside, interestingly the White House email is down for "maintenance". Never has been before. Probably the birth control issue. So much for open communication.

Oh, and I don't want to forget a shout out to DHS, if you are reading this.

Okay, I guess we are going to go through the phase where we are being passive aggressive about the residency issue. so, for a while all questions have to be specifically addressed to the residents of a particular country. Pain in the ass but have to play the game.

Of course human life has meaning. We are constantly phasing in and out of various realities; we aren't on a journey because all that is, which is us, exists all at once. Ask a physicist. We just are. And in the human terminology available to us, we are one thing.

Every time I think about those idiots manhandling a U.S. Congressman it makes my blood boil. I'm old enough that whatever happens I've usually had some experience with it. In this case, just before I left IRS Revenue Officers (me) were no longer protected by the law and we could be sued. If you don't think that changed some attitudes think again. Mistreating the public, which by my definition was turning them into criminals and encouraging a "them" and "us" attitude was encouraged all the way up the line. The same thing is happening in the TSA. It should have remained private. Then the government could harass them for the same conduct they now engage in. They are not protecting us from anything; the terrorists have moved on. The horse left the barn. We should do the best we can without drifting into some kind of police state at the airports and move on ourselves. They've already gotten and are getting what they wanted. It worked and it only began with the WTC; we are doing the rest to ourselves.

I was asking because I don't have one. I just can't stand being available 24/7.
