Yep, but this seems to be a bigger problem with some types of government than others. In America, I blame the two party system and the electoral college.

This kind of boycott works best against individual companies. If we don't buy gas from Hess or Mobil for a week they'd likely suck up and give you a free bobble-head.

I don't believe though that a week (or a month) of not driving would do more than hurt the profit margin of the oil industry. They would respond by raising prices. I think that is OPEC's only purpose.
