Yes, I can see the logic in that. I am sure that some people would misuse the edit option in that way. I agree with the X points limit. It gives the user the small amount of time needed to rethink something and can't be misused. In addition you could also Flag edited questions and re-filter them for nasty words and stuff.

In Europe we have coins for our 1 and 2 euros.
