If every couple is allowed only one child, in 40 years the population (currently 6.7 bn) will half. In 80 years, half again. So by 2087 we could have 1.67bn which is far more sustainable. Clearly China is cheating as their one child per family structure appears to be failing. Religions seem to be a key area for population growth in the west, eg cathilics.
