I think the old war paradigm is rapidly fading. Smaller, drawn out, local skirmishes are going to be the de facto 21 century war. I don't see as many opportunities for a country to attempt what Germany did in the late 30's - early 40's. With the ability to mobilize large numbers of forces to distant fronts in relatively short amounts of time, aggressive attempts by nations CAN be responded to swiftly by multinational conglomerate forces.
