I don't believe that the answer from the Census Bureau is a good one. I'm fairly sure that a vast majority of the population knows about the up coming census. The letter was really a vehicle to plead the case that the census should be filled out.
The fiscally responsible way to have done it would have been to make the letter the coversheet for the census.
I will be filling out my census with all the Constitutionally mandated information. Namely: my name, address and nothing else.
No, I think it is a bad thing but not the same. The person working for no or little money still has basic human rights such as choosing their own mate, the right to not get beaten to death, ect....
