Yeah, I know that could be an interpretation of it but it was not one of the proposed choices because I guess that failing due to external factors would be a much more desirable situation than being directly responsible for a negative outcome.
I'm interested in assessing what people think would be worse in cases where one is to blame for losing in some kind of scenario. Maybe I should have kept it simple with something along the lines of: "Would you rather lose because victory was within reach but you let it slip away or because you're too lame to win that game?". ;)
What I meant was not having a chance to succeed in some situation for being inept in that regard so I see the two ways of stating that alternative as the same thing.
The choice was between having something (or someone) you want within reach but failing by mishandling the situation and failing to get what you want for being helpless in that field or particular situation.
Maybe I should have explained better what I was trying to say but I don't know how much the character limitation would have prevent that...
How did you interpret the not having a chance at all part? By the intervention of external factors? That wouldn't be much of a dilemma in that case, would it?... ;)
