I think Wal-Mart has a policy where they have to card everyone regardless of their age.
So I really don't think it's a compliment or an insult, just following store policy.
Sure malpractice insurance blows, and in all honesty there are probably quite a few malpractice suits that are more than a bit frivolous. Yet I still think it'd be a better career path than most.
Because you can in effect spend you entire life learning while earning a decent living. (That's why I want to go to med school/become a doctor)
