There was health insurance available from the state of Indiana until regulations from Obamacare forced them to shut it down. They phased my part out over 6 months. Others will be eligible until 2014 when the Federal health care starts.

It's causing similar problems in Massachusetts.

I've spent the last couple of hours trying to clarify how I want to answer your question. The first thing I found was that a lot of things that bother other Conservatives don't bother me at all. The more surprising thing is that a lot of the bad things mentioned on Conservative sites have to do with broken campaign promises, lies he told or the huge number of staffing errors he made. Ironically, this just makes him Nixon II in governing style. Thats more style than substance. I didn't see that coming.

The very bad things I was referring to are his having been successful in turning the USA into a past it's prime, European Wannabe country instead of the strongest, freest country on the face of the Earth.

I made a long list of bad things and thought about what you might say. I realized that you could easily argue against many of things and completely miss my point that attempting to impeach someone because you disagree with them is insanely bad for the country.

Tripled the national debt in 18 months.

Apologised to our enimies.

Anti-semitic foreign polocy.

Limited student loans to government loans.

Took away my healthcare.

Spent 70% of stimulas $ on education and health care; 24% on infrastructure.

Politicized the Census.

Awful vetting. (Richardson, Daschle, Carrion and many in lesser positions)

Sends $ and supplies for our troops through the most corrupt government anywhere. Pakistan.

Forced TARP money on banks that didn't want on need it.

Incentivizing small businesses to stop growth at 26 employees.

Emergency funds to help pay for abortions in Pennsylvania and New Mexico, though pledging not to.

Middle class tax hikes to pay for health care. (It doesn't count if it's not income tax?)

The release of CIA Memos.

White House attacks on an entertainer.

Playing the race card officially on June 21, 2008.

There are more, and like I said, you will like some of these, but I'm not all that surprised. It is mostly the same things we were warning about before he was elected. The only things that surprised me was the racism and his brilliant use of Political Correctness to to justify his policies.

We often talk about some of the same things, but have good moderators that actually stop most of the hate speech commonly found on here.

No it wasn't. It was started by the banks ignoring prudent lending practices in order to meet federal lending law. I've even cited the applicable laws for you. I'm truly at a loss to understand your assumption that a new high in greed was a major cause for our housing situation.

Canadian law does not have these particular damaging regulations and did not experience the kind of housing bubble or collapse that the US did. It seems to me that you would have to ignore the different outcomes to hold your position.

I also have to add that we both can acknowledge that there was not a single cause for the financial mess and it's sometimes difficult to separate cause from effect. But I worked with a number of mortgage financial people during the boom and most were honestly trying to do the best job they could for their customers and their company. It's true that the largest bank I worked with was around the 25th largest in the US, but I find it difficult to believe that Big Banks operate on a completely different ethical standard. They have to pay even more attention to federal regulations because they are a bigger target.

The biggest problem I have with the greed theory, though, is that greed is probably the same factor it has always been. It looks more like a constant than a change agent.
