Do you think U.S. children get a good education in the public school systems?

As a person who wants to become a history teacher, I think that the quality of education that a child gets in the United States is very poor. My US History says that if you don't learn history, you're going to repeat it. History books write paragraphs on events that should have whole chapters written about it. The Holocaust is one of those events. Very few people know much about it. There are many books written on it; I've pretty much all the books on the Holocaust from our library; but in the history books they don't say very much about it. More children become pregnant at a young age. Mostly it's because they don't care about their education.
