I have only one account on Ask500people.com, and barely keep up with it as it is. And waugs has never been officially affiliated with Ask500People.com.

I'm sorry to hear you have a poor opinion of the site and how it's run, but I only wish the "behind the scenes" machinations were even one tenth as interesting as the conspiracy theories I've read.

I'm not sure what you mean, Wingnutt. I didn't say I, or our "crew," are marking questions inappropriate. I think the community as a whole is doing a credible job moderating itself.

Repeat questions, questions about Ask500People or its users, questions that aren't questions, and questions that reference comments or external links have regularly been pulled from the question stream by our users. And I, at least personally, am glad for that. Our community is active 24 hours a day... and generally smarter.

We've responded repeatedly to your direct inquiries. Many of the questions in your question history speak for themselves. A good portion of them are this exact, self-referential question, and many, many of them are repeat questions.

To be sure, some are innocuous (though referencing external links or information outside the question will also often get a question marked down to keep them off external sites lacking the context), but the question history you reference as evidence of overzealous moderation also serves as reasonable evidence that you're regularly engaging in the types of behavior we expect the community to keep in check.

We're sorry to hear you didn't receive a reply to a support request. My records show we corresponded back in August 2008, but not regarding changing your location. You should always be able to reach us at support@ask500people.com, or via the 'contact' link on the bottom of every page on the site.

You can change your location in your profile via the 'Edit' link on your own profile page. Note, however, that you only have three chances to get it right, so no random globehopping! After that, you're stuck, apart from contacting us directly with one final change request.

Aaron hasn't deleted a question in months. Moderation is pretty much via community 'mark as inappropriate' clicks.

Just checked with Aaron. Apparently, a recent bump in activity can be attributed to Ask500People's inclusion in a blog post listing "anti-efficiency tools." Cool!

The 'subcategory' links built in a Google Search are usually built algorithmically. How it picked 'Wingnutt' and 'Beliefs' is a mystery to me (less so 'Blogs').

I'm pretty sure we can hone those links on our end. Thanks for pointing it out.
