It's a pretty good system, but I'd try to change a few things. A few suggestions:

1.Bring back low limits on media ownership.

2. Contributions allowed only from individuals qualified to vote for that candidate, and limited to nominal amount.

3. 1 year window for donations and declarations of candidacy prior to election.

4. 1st state primaries no earlier than 6 months before the final election.

5. After the election, all donations not spent by parties, candidates, pacs or similar groups to be turned over to the government for dispersal in later publicly-financed elections.

I've now enjoyed the flick several times on SyFy. I'm not sure I wouldn't enjoy it at some level if it actually happened that way. Sell short.

There are elements of each of these in my political makeup. Mostly I am anti-oligarchy.
