Energy efficiency in construction industry and appliances used in typical homes is gr8 solution for Americans and Europeans. We can observe same thing as with energy-efficient bulbs in EU with hybrid cars. In case of bulbs with mercury there is problem with utilization and corresponding threats for people. In case of hybrid cars inefficient utilization of accumulators containing toxic compounds like lead etc. is also danger for the environment...
Eventually when "green market" would grow enough encouraged by law improvements and government incentives all the mention above problems will be eliminated.
Exactly, do you remember the reaction of sport representations on the air pollution during the last Olympic in China ? Some of the participants resign of coming to Beijing because of smog... and number of world population rapidly increase. Weather anomalies like hurricanes near US coastal areas... Here in Poland we almost don’t have winter. Temp ranges from 4 to 10 C in November and December without snowing + strong winds. It’s strange. Even if global warming is not true modernising energy sector into renewable sources will be excellent step forward. It will ensure new workplaces and prepare for inevitable lack of fossil fuels after couple decades. I don’t like international emission trade system but this is only one solution of the The United Nations Climate Change Conference ideas.
