You should never have a question that asks two different questions at the same time, because it is impossible for someone to answer no to one part of it and yes to another.

Indeed, absolutely, the problem is that the universe is so old that the probability of them being alive at the same time as us is very slim - either they have not yet evolved and they are still single cell organisms or they have been a civilization and then died off.

If by doing a fine job, you mean we are using up all the resources as fast as we can then I can only agree with you. But once all the native old-growth forests have been turned into outdoor furniture for the suburbs, what then?

I meant extinct in that habitat, not completely extinct, ever. Yes my wording was poor, but I think the real meaning can be picked up from the context without needing to resort to a pedantic insult.

while I support the reintroduction of all species to their former native habitat no matter what the species, this can only take place in an ideal world where we are not fucking over the planet and completely trashing all the natural habitats. Stop the deforestation and hunting of existing native species first and then think about reintroducing species that are already extinct.
