I still ask myself these questions. Your answers address a lot of interesting issues. If the universe was made by a God, well where did God come from, how did It's universe begin? If we do live in a steady state universe, how did that cycle begin? It's like seeing a runner on a track that goes in a circle and saying, "oh, he's been running forever." At some point, he had to get on the track. It's the same thing with initial state of matter, how could it come from nothing?
One thing that I recently discovered which I found to be very interesting is that if you take all the energy in the universe, and convert all the matter in the universe in to energy (e=mc2), and then subtract all the negative vacuum energy in the universe from that total, it equals 0. So somehow, by splitting the negative energy from the positive energy, you get something from nothing.
