Politicians always say that they're going to invest in education, reform education, etc. All they ever do is take money AWAY from public education. If our country values the education of its young people, it will put its money where its mouth is. Schools are teetering on the edge of collapse under NCLB (No Child Left Behind), an empty, underfunded initiative that Bush used to get elected but never fully intended to support.

I like Monday. I'm all rested up from Sunday. I have to be sneaky about it, though, because people get really annoyed with Monday-loving morning people...

You know what I don't like? That the other day a fire truck turned on its lights, blew through a stoplite, whipped around a bunch of traffic, then pulled INTO the fire station, parked, and the firefighters got out of the truck and mosied into the station. Idiots.

It's kind of nice that you asked. I used to hate someone but realized when I read this that I don't anymore. And that's pretty great.

Maslow's Hierarcy of Needs says that the physiological needs (food, shelter, clothing, physical safety) must be met for a person to advance to higher levels of stability. Feeding people is a great way to start to reduce all the rest.
