Hi. This was my first time as I just joined so sorry if you have seen all manner of questions. ;) The reason for my asking is that most people make opinions on world matters and get influenced by the media on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the opinions generated is not tempered by actual knowledge of the outside world because I know that a significant number of people in larger countries do not have passports to travel. From the results, it is interesting that half of hte US respondents said No.
Given the short 'attention' span and the quick result- oriented culture we are all in, I doubt we will give any alternatives due diligence nor time before debunking it or moving on. case in point: Ethanol in cars. It is and will be too expensive in the beginning. Not until we get a critical mass and more traction.
Education is key as bringing in children tends to cloud the longer term rationalisation of the costs - material and intangible - to the immediate family and to society at large.
Further to that is government alignment to the correct message. Here in Australia, the gornment gives aid in the form of money to families to have children - MORE IF YOU ARE A SINGLE PARENT. Which results in young girls getting pregnant just for the handout. The correct way there is to give aid only to married couples for example.
